National Treasure
Great HITCH "Quote" For November
Hitch: Basic Principles - no woman wakes up saying "God, I hope I don't get swept off my feet today!" Now, she might say "This is a really bad time for me," or something like "I just need some space," or my personal favorite "I'm really into my career right now." You believe that? Neither does she. You know why? 'Cause she's lying to you, that's why. You understand me? Lying! It's not a bad time for her. She doesn't need any space. And she may be into her career, but what she's really saying is "Uh, get away from me now," or possibly "Try harder, stupid," but which one is it?

What was the Worst Movie you got dragged to the theatre to watch??? - the Turkey awards!!!!

Which Film Most Surprised you when you were expecting a lemon??? ....the Keeper Award!!!

It was a dead heat for me between Aramadas -They portrayed him as a moron. and Passage to India - but why would you want to (go to India.) Grant=Stephens comments below dissagree with my assesment of Amadeus. (1FanTale 2U) Let me say I like the Music of that composer, But personally didn't like the film at all.

At Alans we watched the Tyler Perry movie Madea's Family Reunion :) definately worth giving it a spin. and Second Hand Lions- bad cover but a great film:-GB

....Regarding the movie, Aramadas (myBad), which I presume you mean Amadeus, is there wisdom in calling Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart a moron? Many of his 600 compositions are widely acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, concertente, chamber, piano, operatic and choral music. He is generally regarded as the greatest musical genius the world has ever seen; his understanding of music theory, the complexities of harmonics and his mastery of musical expression as an art form is second to none. If he was a moron, then the rest us are totally brain dead. You won't get people coming back to read your website by saying things like that. (Please bear in mind I saw this film once, at the Mecca, in the 80s and simply didn't care for IT.)
.....I'm very surprised that you, a musician and lover of music, found Amadeus, a film about a music genius, not to your liking. Apart from the fact that it left much to be desired in terms of biographical accuracy, I found it totally compelling. It portrayed with pinpoint accuracy the culture of the classical music period in Europe at all levels, even down to the playing of Mozart's compositions on authentic period instruments. In an early scene, the pounding of the horses hoofs galloping through the dark streets of Vienna to the opening bars of the 1st movement of Mozart's 25th symphony was one of the finest marriages of music and visuals I have ever seen in a film. The fine line between genius and madness has never been so cleverly defined and portrayed on film as here. And as for Mozart being a moron ... of all the people who have ever lived, he would have to be among the least deserving of the title 'moron'. You really dropped a clanger with that one!
......As for A Passage To India, it certainly wasn't the best transcription of a piece of classic literature to the big screen, and would definitely be a low point in the directing career of Sir David Lean. By his standards it was a below par film, but I am sure that was because of the impossibility of retaining the integrity of the novel while keeping it all visually interesting, which is what a film must do. Given the importance of India as a major source of revenue to Britain and British merchants during the era in which the film was set, I feel the answer to your question as to why one would want to go to India is rather obvious. (what did you see at the Movies you Hated)
......I have recommended a number of people to your website to try and increase traffic to it, but more than one found your comments such as those about Mozart and India to be quite foolish. You may well believe that Mozart was portrayed as a moron in the film, and you have every right to say that, but by saying that Mozart himself was a moron,  it convinced two of the people who I recommended your website that you in fact are the moron. That to me was very sad because I know you're not. Stephen Yarrow. (Your Team Profile- reads just right.)
---Surely I am entitled to My Opinion about Fims that I Hope never to see again BUT if your friends want to Email me about what they've like or not I will post their Comments here. Concerning true movies about musicians let me recommend- Walk the Line (Johnny Cash)- RAY (Charles)- Music of the Heart (Roberta Guspari)- Beyond The Sea (Bobby Darin)- Coal Miners Daughter (Loretta Lynn)- Buddy Holly Story & La Bamba (Ritche Valens)
